Clever by Mu to stop her going on the outside and then cutting her up on the inside. Would have liked to see front on angle to see how much she cut in. Hodgkinson trapped and had to tuck in her right arm. Shame as she looked stronger.

Re: World Athletics Championships - Eugene Oregon
Thought she was gonna try and burn past Mu last 50 metres but seemed to have either run out of legs or was trapped on the inside. Looked like if she had the space she could have kicked again and caught her.

Great silver for Hodgkinson and closer to Mu than she was at the Olympics.

I don't think she did anything wrong but I think if Mu had taken the inside then maybe Hodkinson would have had a better chance on the outside.

But agree, if she leads out the final part of the race then she doesn't need to worry about which line she takes. That should come with confidence.

Capitol Man 4:41 - Oh really? Just Oregon?

I've been to 40 states now and not really encountered it as bad anywhere else, maybe I just didn't end up in those areas.

Re: World Athletics Championships - Eugene Oregon
Hodgkinson was close to gold there, just ran out of gas for that final push.
The championships end with a bronze in the Women's 4 X 400.
A decent medal haul, our best since 2015 but as always with a bit more luck we could have had a couple more.

Good silver for Hodgkinson but I would like her to be the girl in front on the back straight with Mu fighting to get level. These two are evenly matched so the race tactics are vital and Mu got them right.

Keely Hodgkinson unlucky not to take gold in the 800m. Very special rivalry developing there between her and Athing Mu. Both so young. Mu has the upper hand at the moment but the gap has closed from last year.

It’s always been like that. Totally depends on where you are. DC used to change one block to the next. You couldn’t stop at a traffic light in Austin without getting hit up by beggars with quite a few homeless encampments.

Have the BBC complained about the men’s 4 x 100 relay team being too black?

I hope the athletes don't visit Eugene.
I stayed there with friends for 5 days a couple of weeks ago and the homelessness and mental illness situation is shocking, people openly pissing in the streets during daytime (Saw a few) lay-bys and motorway car and tent communities.
I went into a 7-11 when I got back there from Seattle, it was around 10PM and I felt I was in the Thriller video, some meth woman shouting at the guy behind the counter "Have you got any Parmesan" she hardly had any clothes on and was filthy, lack of cheese was the least of her problems.
The decline in the US in the two years I haven't been was unbelievable.

Big race for Keely Hodgkinson tonight up against Athing Mu. Reckon it's between these 2 for the Gold with MU beating Keeley at the Olympics.

Loads of pressure on Keeley but she seems to be handling it really well and has as much chance as Jake did in his race so will definitely be going into the race to win it.

Could be a good Mens 5000m race too with WR holder Cheptegei looking to double up from his Olympic Gold.

GB tend to be quite far behind in the endurance events since Mo Farah retired from the track and whilst Marc Scott is running well, it's going to take something special for him to get a medal.

Re: World Athletics Championships - Eugene Oregon
A little bit of humility would serve DAS well, concentrate that she got a medal in one of the best races for a long time beaten by an all time great and not make excuses. There's something not quite right there.

Also the Nike kit for team gb is the worst I've ever seen. In fact all the teams with Nike kit look like a bag of pikey shit.

The BBC coverage of this is like watching a really long episode of Desmonds.

KJT and DAS are the biggest pair of chokers and excuse makers in athletics. Pair of fucking wasters.

Can be the only reason El.

MHS won bronze in the individual 400.

She has West Ham level injury luck.
She seemed fine after the race too, not limping. Very disappointing as we would definitely have medaled.

Re: World Athletics Championships - Eugene Oregon
13- I was thinking that. I guess we didn’t meet a qualifying standard or have enough of a team to put together? I saw Martin Rooney there congratulating MHS, but I don’t think he ran at all, unless I missed him in the heats of the 400 individual or he did the mixed?

El Scorchio 2:49 Sun Jul 24
Re: World Athletics Championships - Eugene Oregon
Very weird what happened to her in that race. Hopefully nothing serious. Must be awful to feel you’ve let down the team as well.

Bronze for the men's 4 X 100 relay team.
The women would have got a medal too had Asher Smith not pulled up with cramp on the final bend.

Women's 4 X 400 team into the final and could medal.

Anyone know what happened to the men's 4 X 400 team, didn't see them in the heats and can't find any news as to why anywhere?
